My client is a local authority situated in the West of Wales and has a commercial portfolio of over 100 properties mainly located in Llanelli. They are looking to recruit a Commercial Building Surveyor and are considering different levels of experience of developing schemes and creating pricing schedules. This role offers 5 months guaranteed work that is paid well for the current market and has the option to go permanent after the 5 month duration.
Your new role
You will report into the Maintenance Manager of Minor Works and assist the team in developing maintenance and transformation schemes, working closely with the client both internal and external giving expert advice, looking at specifications and developing pricing schedules to improve the educational facilities using agreed external contractors. You will need to project manage these schemes, supervise contractors and take ownership of all CDM aspects.
What you’ll need to succeed
You will need to hold enough experience to be able complete the tasks listed above independently. That’s not to say you will be working alone as there will be support with certain aspects but due to the pipeline of work, support will not always be guaranteed. You will need experience performing Building Surveyor duties on commercial property, developing pricing schedules, working closely with clients and having a good sense of professionalism, have an understanding of CDM principles be able to manage minor works projects and quality control.
What you’ll get in return
You will receive up to £26 per hour, 37-hours a week for a 5 months with the potential option to go permanent. During this time if you work PAYE (usually if you are not an independent contractor) you will accrue holiday for paid leave. This role will assist in improving an experienced commercial surveyor project management skills and would provide a fantastic option if you wish to be a Project Manager and progress into major works in the future.
