The School

St Kentigern’s Academy is a Catholic secondary school situated in Blackburn serving the west of West Lothian, and the catchment area retains a community spirit and aspects of its mining cultural heritage. It is one of two denominational schools in West Lothian. The school has ten associated primary schools, but in session 2020-2021 our S1 is made up of students from twenty-two primary schools, drawing a comprehensive mix of students.

The current school roll is 1285 Students with 92 members of teaching staff including those designated to support students with additional learning needs. The school’s free meal entitlement (FME) for session 2021/22 is 19.1%. The school has an integrated Autism Support Unit (Multi-Study) in addition to a Learning Base, Nurture Base and both an Employability and a Health & Wellbeing Hub.

St Kentigern’s Academy has an excellent reputation in the local community, particularly for the high standards of conduct and confidence displayed by students and full school uniform. In addition to the formal curriculum, a wide range of extra-curricular and out-of-hours activities are on offer. The school receives a high level of support and encouragement from parents. Attendance at parents’ evenings is good, and information and consultation exercises are well supported.

The Role

At St Kentigern’ Academy we pride ourselves on our relationships within our community and we seek to ensure that we communicate and support our families in a manner that is both inclusive and timely. As our Clerical Assistant, you will be integral to our communication policy and will help to ensure that visitors to the school are welcomed in a professional, friendly and supportive manner.

You will play a key role in supporting the Senior Leadership Team with administrative duties and good IT skills is essential for the role. You will also support the school with key tasks in finance, purchasing and data management.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.
