Junior Billing Specialist

The Junior Billing Specialist will provide billing and accounting support to the Billing Coordinator. This position is located in our downtown Chicago office and remote options are available. The position reports to the Head of Operations & Order to Cash.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Assisting the Billing Coordinator in the accurate and timely completion of the billing process
  • Processing external invoices into the internal billing software and preparing the corresponding invoice to the client
  • Evaluating and entering time entries from attorneys with the corresponding fees and work descriptions
  • Assisting with daily balancing and monthly accruals
  • Working closely with the Billing Coordinator to ensure that high priority accounts are kept in good standing
  • Performing billing and collection activities for assigned customers and clients in a timely manner, and providing regular support and back-up to the Billing Coordinator
  • Managing customer specific billing practices with VIP clients and customers
  • Researching and responding to inquiries regarding billing and accounting issues, including generating ad-hoc reports
  • Maintaining confidentiality of organizational information
  • Maintaining accurate historical records
  • Other related duties as assigned

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
  • 1-2 years of billing or billing related activities strongly preferred; experience in a law firm setting is preferred
  • Proficiency in data entry and management
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment with a frequently high volume of work

Possess strong organization, time management, analytical and problem solving skills
